Job Summary
The Director of People and Culture will lead the Uganda people function, reporting to the Country Director and working closely with the global People and Culture team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead people strategy, workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, HR operations, and compliance.
- Advise senior management on organisational design, culture, risk, and people strategy.
- Oversee HRIS, payroll preparation, benefits, audits, safeguarding, staff welfare, learning, and engagement.
- Ensure compliance with Ugandan labour laws and organisational policies.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced HR, Business Administration, or related degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive HR/People and Culture experience, including senior leadership responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of Ugandan labour law, HR operations, payroll, HRIS, and compliance.
- SHRM, HRCI, IHRM, or equivalent certification is preferred; Uganda HR Managers Association membership is required.
