Job Summary
Evidence Action is recruiting a Senior Associate Accountant to strengthen financial controls, reporting, statutory compliance and field-finance support across its Uganda programmes.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and set performance standards for field-based finance staff.
- Protect general-ledger integrity and review journals, allocations, vouchers and supporting documents.
- Coordinate internal, external and donor audits and close control findings.
- Support tax planning and timely statutory returns, including PAYE, WHT and VAT.
- Monitor cash disbursements, staff advances, procurement controls and budget compliance.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field; a relevant master’s is advantageous.
- Minimum five years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably in an NGO or donor-funded setting.
- At least two years in a management position; full or partial CPA, ACCA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Strong ERP, Excel, Uganda tax, audit, donor-grant and internal-control knowledge.
