Job Purpose

The Accounts Assistant will support the Finance function by managing day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial records, proper reconciliations, and compliance with basic statutory requirements. The role is suited for a hands-on professional looking to grow within a dynamic work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Record Management

  • Prepare and issue EFRIS invoices in compliance with URA requirements.
  • Record, post, and maintain financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
  • Perform bank, mobile money, and cash reconciliations on a regular basis.
  • Maintain proper accounting records, ledgers, and supporting documentation.

Payables, Receivables & Cash Handling

  • Support accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing, collections, and supplier payments.
  • Handle cash transactions while ensuring proper accountability and documentation.
  • Follow up on outstanding receivables to support smooth cash flow.

Reporting & Compliance Support

  • Assist in preparing basic financial reports and schedules.
  • Support compliance with internal procedures and statutory requirements.
  • Assist during audits and liaise with auditors, suppliers, and other stakeholders when required.

Administration & Support

  • Maintain organized filing and record-keeping of financial documents.
  • Provide general administrative and operational support to the Finance department.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor or Management.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional certification (CPA, ACCA – Level I or II) is an added advantage.
  • 1–2 years relevant accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with EFRIS and basic URA compliance.
  • Basic proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel, Quick books, Zoho books.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Integrity, reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
