Job Description
We are currently looking for a Marketing Communications Officer:
- Contract duration: Initial 12-month national contract at 0.9 FTE (90%), equivalent to 36 hours per week, with the possibility of extension.
- Location: SNV head office in The Hague, Netherlands or SNV country office in Power for Food Partnership operating countries Uganda (Nairobi), Kenya (Eldoret), Rwanda (Kigali) or Ethiopia (Addis Ababa).
Our Power For Food Assignment
The Power for Food Partnership is a €45 million, five-year initiative led by SNV and funded by the IKEA Foundation (IKF) to drive systemic change at the intersection of agri-food and energy systems across Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Ethiopia. By integrating regenerative agriculture (RA) with the productive use of renewable energy (PURE), the Partnership aims to improve livelihoods, strengthen local food systems, and enhance sustainability. Through a nexus approach, it seeks to accelerate adoption of RA and PURE, foster policy action, and build stakeholder collaboration, enabling smallholder farmers and SMEs to thrive. Its work is structured around three pathways: Learn (evidence generation and knowledge exchange), Link (collaboration and convening partners), and Leverage (embedding approaches into policy and investment). Ultimately, the Partnership envisions resilient, renewable energy-driven food systems where people have equitable opportunities to prosper while protecting the planet.
The Partnership operates with dedicated teams in each of the four focus countries, coordinated and supported by an overarching partnership team. This central team is composed of five positions: the Partnership Lead, LEARN Advisor, LEVERAGE Advisor, MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning) Advisor, and Communications & Influencing Officer. The selected candidate will form part of this core team, working collaboratively to support and strengthen the Partnership across all countries.
Your role
As Marketing Communications Officer for the Power for Food Partnership, you will lead the development and implementation of a compelling communications and influencing strategy centred on the Regenerative Agriculture–Productive Use of Renewable Energy (RA–PURE) nexus. Reporting to the Partnership Lead and working closely with country teams, technical experts, SNV’s global Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs team, and implementing partners, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening programme visibility, driving narrative change, and influencing systems change at scale.
You will develop persuasive, audience-specific content that communicates the value and impact of RA–PURE integration, and shape a powerful storytelling approach that brings together evidence from implementation, field-level insights, and voices from the ground. By ensuring the partnership’s strategic messages are well represented across external platforms, events, and media, you will position the partnership as a thought leader and mobilise actors across sectors.
This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned, strategic, and creative communications professional who is passionate about using communications and influencing to accelerate systemic transformation and deliver lasting impact.
