Job Details:

We are looking for a suitable candidate to take on the role of the Project Officer for the Uzazi Salama project, which aims to deliver a person-centered maternal health intervention that assures positive outcomes for pregnant women, even amidst climate crises in the Kasese district. The project officer will be the district focal point, providing operational oversight and support supervision of the district-level implementation team, ensuring effective operational coordination, timely execution, and quality delivery of project activities. The role will supervise the Social Behavior Change (SBC) Officer and Maternity Shelter Midwife and maintain strong linkages with the sub-awardee, district stakeholders, and implementing partners.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Your contribution:

  1. Lead the district level implementation of the Uzazi Salama project work plan and align budgets with programmatic achievements.
  2. Technically supervise and support the SBC Officer and Maternity Shelter Midwife to ensure quality RMNCAH service delivery and adherence to MoH and project standards at supported facilities.
  3. Maintain linkages and collaboration with the sub-awardee leading on climate resilience, district local government, relevant implementing partners, and health and climate stakeholders, and support participating facilities to develop and maintain operational partnerships & networks within the district of operation. This shall include conducting joint support supervision visits with district teams.
  4. Monitor progress of activities, including community engagement, service delivery, and climate-resilient interventions using approved tools and systems. This will entail continuous monitoring of adherence to approved standard operating procedures, data quality procedures, and protocols by participating facilities, providers, and community resource persons.
  5. Ensure timely reporting, documentation of success stories, and knowledge sharing. Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and end of program/project reports to the donor, district, and other relevant stakeholders.
  6. Coordinate the review of selected adverse outcomes and continuing medical education through referral systems and emergency preparedness mechanisms such as the Local Maternity & Neonatal Systems (LMNS).
  7. Work with PSIU knowledge management Team to profile and document the project interventions, learnings, success stories, and best practices; and regularly disseminate the same to inform programming and institutional development.
  8. Lead the adaptation and implementation of the demand creation/social behavioral change strategy to drive demand for climate sensitive reproductive, maternal, neonatal, child, and adolescent health (RMNCAH) services in Kasese district.
  9. Implement the risk management guidelines to minimize safeguarding breaches, operational and financial risk, and monitor complications and adverse events resulting from PSIU-supported service delivery; and facilitate their timely management and reporting.
